Blue colored foods are popular with children. The past decade has given ue every thing from blue ketchup to mashed potatoes.Raspberry in its self is the least popular of the three "reds'-strawberry ,cherry, and raspberry. How ever, raspberry combined with the beloved color blue elevates it all to another level. Its Marketing.

who knows. i never thought of it.

Cherry and strawberry are red. You can differentiate lighter (usually strawberry) from darker (usually cherry) but it's tough to add raspberry and keep it red while still making it distinctive. "Blue raspberry," while having nothing to do with the real color of the fruit, is marketable and identifiable, which is what the sweets makers want. (First place I ever saw it was in snowcone syrup.)
