1) from Heloise - either use thin rubber gloves when handling them or remove the odor doing this :
* Pour a little salt or baking soda on hands and rub them together. Rinse with water.
* Squeeze toothpaste or pour a small amount of mouthwash on one palm, then rub hands together. Rinse with water.
* Rub hands across a stainless steel utensil under running tap water.

2) To remove the garlic smell from your hands, simply rub your hands with a stainless steel spoon or other stainless steel utensil.
Don't have stainless steel utensils on hand? A little salt or baking soda rubbed on the hands should do the trick, also.

3) For pungent garlic hands:
Dry-wash your hands with coffee-grounds. The ground will absorb the garlic smell.

For onion hands:
Roll fresh leaves of parsley between your hands. The parsley will neutralize the smell of onion.

For “fishy” hands:
Rub hands with vinegar or lemon juice to relieve the fishy smell.
Special deodorizing scrub pad for any kind of smelly hands:
Obtain some dried lovage herb. Place dried lovage in a small muslin or cheesecloth bag. When needed, run the bag under hot tap water and rub the pad over your hands to remove clinging odors. It works wonders.

How about not touching the garlic?

rub your fingers on a spoon. I haven't tried it but Martha Stewart says it works.

Buy some non latex gloves at a medical store or pharmacy. Use them for garlic, onions, raw chicken etc.

Some dollar stores sell some sort of metal ball which you rub your fingers with to get rid of the smell. Not sure how effective it is though, as I've never tried it.

Just don't touch it! When you cut it up use something to hold it in place. Scoop it on the blade of the knife to add it to your dish. Thats what I do. Hate garlic smell too!

get a grlic smasher. u wont even have to touch it . or buy pre-chopped garlic

you could find this at I think bed bath and and beyond. It is a stainless steel (kind of looks like a metal bar of soap) It will last you forever. Try baking soda too

Try using plastic glove's when dicing and preparing your food.

yaya, i heard the spoon...lemon w/ water, or baking soda w/ water

Try rubbing your hands on stainless steel

buy a garlic press... easy easy!!

Save your money on the stainless steel ball idea. You can use any stainless utensil you already own. Rub your fingers over it while holding it under running water.

Wear exam gloves Get em at Costco cheap.

The oil from garlic can be removed using lemon juice, but also requires some scrubbing as well. Most of the garlic smell I am sure is coming from the peeling part, try getting a rolling peeler (they run about $4-$6 dollars). The link below will show you what it looks like and cost. I love mine, makes it much easier to peel garlic, and I don't get much of a smell on my fingers afterwards. Hope this helps.
