What are hotdogs made out of?!
Answers: I hear so many rumors. Someone just tell me!!!!!!
Frankfurter content is regulated by law in the United States. Traditional hot dogs are made of beef, pork, veal, chicken or turkey. They are available with or without skins and may contain up to 30 percent fat and 10 percent added water. For vegetarians, there are tofu hot dogs.
Hot dog sizes range from about 2 inches (cocktail weiners) up to the famous foot-long hot dogs popular at sporting events. The most popular hot dog size is the standard 6-inch length usually sold in packages of ten.
Hot Dog Terms Regulated by Law
? Beef or all-beef: Contains only beef with no soybean protein or dry milk solid fillers added.
? Kosher: All-beef, usually heavily seasoned with garlic.
? Meat: A mixture of pork and beef, usually 40 percent pork and 60 percent beef with no fillers.
? Frankfurter: May contain up to 3.5 percent fillers and made from a combination of meats.
Pig Intestines.
oh god, you dont wanna know. They are made from the leftover parts of the animal.....chicken, cow, pig. Like tongue, intestine, glands, organs....you name it
leftover parts and pieces of the animal. they taste good but they are gross.
you dont want to know
pig lips and anus. But it depends on the dogs. Some are made out of cow lips and anus. They aren't made of anything you'd normally eat.
whatever meat hasn't been used. Usually excess beef and pork.
who really knows for sure.
Let me know when u find out, k :-)
ok, here goes hotdogs have many different types but most of it is the unused leftovers from making beef it pretty much can contain everything from a cow or pig
"lips and *** holes" to quote "The great outdoors"
Everything that doesn't get used to make bacon, ham, pork chops, and the other good stuff. So like the tail, snouts, faces, ears...you know all the stuff you would never eat if someone told you!
anything leftover from animal bodies, really disgusting
Lips and a.r.s.e.h.o.l.e.s
The rumors are true. It may be beef or real meat, but which parts?

check out this website!
just enjoy them, you don't want to know what's in them
Actually, most modern high quality hot dogs are made from ground beef, spices, a tiny bit of vinegar and (usually artificial) smoke flavor.
But I still enjoy the one I heard when I was a kid: they are made of cow lips!
If you go and look at the packages, you will find that you can buy them made of all kinds of combinations of pork, chicken, turkey, and beef. Basically, they are mostly made of finely ground meat, with or without fillers like corn meal, and most of the meat is not prime cuts, but is the meat left over from trimmed meat.
Every part of the animal is processed, but the Moo.
Enjoy!
do you see in the stores how pork products come in a variety?...Pork Chops, roast, ribs, etc.....? Well hun, a hot dog is made from what is left over from a pig that is not pleasantly marketable........eeeeoooowwwwww........... way back when the really good hot dogs were cased with the intestine from sheep......yummy.....you can find those at a German deli........
the leftover parts of animals that can't be used for anything else, seriously it could be anything from the animal..... pigs snout, cows ears. If you want to eat hot dogs that aren't made of weird stuff get kosher ones, they have one by the brand of "national hebrew" they are not made from any abnormal body parts, they cost a bit more but at least you know you aren't eating cow butt
left over beef, pork, and chicken parts. nothing gross. just not steak. hot dogs are fine. if it bothers you that much go for a kosher hot dog. they use better cuts of meat and are only made of beef. and when i say parts i mean, cuts that would not sell at the store like eyes, nose, lower leg meat. it's all edible, just not appealing.
I heard they were made outta lips n a-holes, but I don't know for sure......lol kinda funny but sick
"All hot dogs are cured and cooked sausages that consist of mainly pork, beef, chicken and turkey or a combination of meat and poultry. Meats used in hot dogs come from the muscle of the animal and looks much like what you buy in the grocer's case. Other ingredients include water, curing agents and spices, such as garlic, salt, sugar, ground mustard, nutmeg, coriander and white pepper."
More info;
In 2006, Americans ate enough hot dogs at major league ballparks to stretch from RFK Stadium in Washington, D.C. to AT&T Park in San Francisco.
New Yorkers eat more hot dogs than any other city population (even Chicago, also known for its hot dogs).
Travelers at Chicago's O'Hare International Airport eat six times more hot dogs than travelers at Los Angeles International Airport and LaGuardia Airport combined.
Hot dog season -- during which Americans eat 7 billion hot dogs -- stretches from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
Americans eat 150 million hot dogs on the fourth of July, alone
-My Dad 's 1st job was a butcher and he told me that "A hot dog is all the parts of the animal(s)that you can't sell or eat directly". Pretty Gross - but oh so good with chili&cheese...mmmm
basically most of the leftover meat and stuff from cows and pigs and chickens too, all the stuff that you would probably never eat like certain organs and other animal parts. The rumors you heard were most likely true
Anything from soybeans, to turkey, beef, chicken and any "leftover" food-grade meats. Makes you think twice don't it!
During a very down time in my life I worked at a meat packing plant in Seattle (Hygrade) They put everything in the hot dogs and stew that they were contracted to make for our troops in Viet Nam. It was sawdust, floor sweepings, pig and beef snouts, ground up hoofs and everything that would add weight.
I started to tell the Government inspector and I was threatened with dismissal. I quit shortly there after.
Meat grading is a farce and prepared food is subject to anything in the plant including human secretions.
I love meat, I try not to think about what is in a hotdog, but I have lots of them. I try to buy all beef and hope for the best.
I worked at a pickle plant. Good luck there also.
There are many types of hot dogs. The exact recipe will depend on the maker and the type ( ex: chicken, kosher, all beef)
Kosher and all-beef hotdogs use only beef. (With kosher hotdogs being much more selective of which cuts.)
Some brands allso make chicken hotdogs and I have even heard of vegetarian hotdogs.
Most hotdogs are a mix of beef, pork, and chicken, as well as "fillers" (such as oatmeal). Cheaper hotdogs tend to have more "filler", which is why they plump up more when cooked.
So basically, you have meat (or a blend of meats), spices and seasonings (because hot dogs are sausages, after all), and "filler" stuiffed into a casing of some sort.
"Natural casings" are made from intestinal linings. Other casings will be made of other products. Hotdogs without casings (I forget what they are called) are actually cooked in plastic casings, which are removied before shipping (I saw this on a TV special a few years ago.)
Hot dogs get a bad rap. When they were first introduced into mainstream america, yes they were made out of things that you would probably never eat. Today however, hotdogs are made of choice processed meats. No hooves, intestines, snouts or eyes, just good meat.
