WHat day should I shop for Thanksgiving day food?!

Question: I'm wondering what day would be best to go to the grocery store, early enough to avoid crowds and having everything I need sold out yet still have everything fresh?

shop for your turkey on Saturday or
Sunday so it has time to properly thaw in the refrigerator. depending on the size this could take 3 to 4 days. Your fresh vegetables will also be fine if purchased that early. Does it really matter if they are in your refrigerator or a stores cooler?
A farmers Market is the only place I know where produce is picked fresh in the AM and sold by 5 pm daily.

Get marshmallows now! They always sell out!

Some things you could start buying now then the perishable items buy 2 or 3 days ahead to avoid the crowds. Take extra extra time to put together your list. You don't want to deal with the chaos and longs lines at the last minute just to get something you forgot.

friday or saturday. if you buy frozen turkey, make sure you give your self enough time to defrost it in the fridge.

You should go as early as possible to avoid expensive sales. Sometimes, stores have sales on turkeys, if you plan to get yours early. If you want to get fresh fruits and pies, then go to the store 2 days before Thanksgiving. Don't go at the last minute though, because then some stores close early or things sell out!
