I don't know about anyone else but I love them plain. Just bake them like white potatoes. Yummy
I have also seen thing sliced thin and fried into chips.
1. Poke a hole in them like you would a regular potato- bake them at 350 for about an hour, then top with butter and cinnamon sugar on them. Put aluminum foil on the rack underneath them as they might leak sugary liquid onto the oven floor as they cook.
2. Peel them, cut them into 1" cubes. Peel an apple and cut it into 2" cubes. The potatos are denser than apples and take longer to cook, that is why you cut them smaller. Butter a baking dish and bake apples and sweet potatoes for 30-40 minutes. You can add more butter and cinnamon sugar before serving.
Poke them and place on baking sheet that is lined with foil, for easier clean-up. Bake at 350F degrees for about an hour, until they are soft. (The potatoes will ooze during the baking so you may have dark spots on the skin.) Let cool and peel. Now, cut up into small pieces in a sprayed baking dish and add butter, brown sugar. Microwave for about 5 minutes, covered so you don't splatter every where, and then add marshmellows on top. Microwave is okay but best to bake at 350 until marshmellows are light brown. (Or mash and use instead of pumpkin in your favorite pumpkin pie recipe.)
There are many ways. One that I like is the candied kind.
I like to cut my sweet potatoes lengthwise and then boil
them in water until they are tender. Pour off most the
water, add lots of butter and sugar and let bubble on low
heat until sugar and butter (or oleo) have formed a syrupy
mixture. Do not let water get low or they could soon burn.
Serve in a vegetable bowl complete with syrup and potatoes.
My family loves them. One way to get kids to like and
eat them.
You can bake them. Scrub the skins, put a crosswise slit in the top and bake them at 450 deg. F (230 C), for about 1/2 hr. to 45 mins, depending on the size.
They can also be sliced, and using a little olive oil in a fry pan, fried. Turn often.. .they'll take only about 10 mins. or so to cook, but check for tenderness. Seasoning should be added AFTER they are done.
My favorite way, but not usually for such large potatoes, is to put a little olive oil in a shallow pan, spread slices over pan, turning to coat both sides with the oil, sprinkle with finely chopped rosemary, then bake at 375 - 400 deg. F (190 - 200 deg. C), turn once during cooking. Watch them. They will brown nicely. Just before taking them out of the oven, turn on the broiler for a minute or two.
You can also slice the potatoes french fry style (like steak fry size) and use the above method.
You can also peel them cut them in small chunks and boil them until tender and mash them.. add a little cream, butter, and a little cinnamon.
Or do the above, but put them in a casserole dish, throw some mini-marshmallows on top and bake until marshmallows are just browned on top.
Hope something here helps.
make french fries and dip them in ranch dressing they are pretty good.
