Does Rum come in varying degrees of flavor or is it all basically the same...?!
I'm not one to indulge in alcoholic beverages. I know that I enjoy the taste of the rum in cakes, candies, etc so I'm at a loss as to what to buy.
Or should I just get the cheapest one on the shelf?
Thanks.
Answers: I'm going to make a Rum cake for Thanksgiving and was wondering if there's a certain name brand that would taste better when the cake was completed.

For flavoring a cake I would use a dark rum like Myer's. Light rum has less flavor.
Rum has a wide range of flavors. I would get the one that tastes the best to you. Rum also comes in varying tones there is white rum, amber rum and dark rum. When it comes to alcohol there is no funner thing than to experiment. If you want a real rich rum flavor get a dark.
comes in a bunch of different flavors. orange, lemon, ect...
