Which way around does the aluminum foil on food?!

Question: which way around do you put the aluminum foil when you bake a chicken for example and why? Does the shiny side touch the food or the other side? Does it make a difference?

It has been demonstrated many, many times that it makes no difference. Go to the reynolds aluminum foil site. They say the same thing. No difference. None. Nada.

In a recent TV cooking show, the presenter said there's no difference either way.

shiney part inside facing the food that way it keeps the heat inside...trust me i should know i work at a fast food and thats what we do....

the shiny side up away from the food
but im not sure if there is much difference
apart from tthe shiny side reflecting heat in a oven
so the food doesnt burn quick

shiney side facing in the way onto the food, reflects the heat back on to it

This one I think your going to get a lot of opposite opinions on. I put the shiny side out, away from the food if wrapping the food. When lining a cookie sheet, or the broiler on the oven, I put the shiny side up. With the food on the shiny side.
My reason?
Mom did it that way.

shiny side relects heat. so it cooks more evenly

I don't think it matters.

I've heard "experts" say on TV cooking shows to put the shiny side towards the food, but I'd been using it the other way for many years before I heard that and switched. I found out it didn't make a bit of difference!

Shiny Side up/outside and don't think it makes a difference.
