Is the turkey safe to eat?!
Answers: I bought a frozen 23 lb turkey last thursday. the freezer died, so it has been in a cooler covered in ice outside on the deck. I'm in Connecticut. I think the inside is still a little frozen. is it safe to eat?
It is absolutely safe to eat if your description is correct. First of all the turkey is very large and if it was frozen it would take a couple of days even at room temperature to thaw. Next you put it outside which is cold I assume so that's almost as good as a refrigerator. Next you covered it with ice (a very wise move) which insures that it never warmed up. Lastly you say it's still a little frozen inside which is a very good indication.
I think you have nothing to worry about

It's a tough call. Why take a chance? Start again.
Should be OK. It takes a long time to thaw a turkey and when you cook it, any possible bacteria will be killed.
If you unwrap it and it smells rancid, I wouldnt make it. But if its still frozen you should be fine. But I would thaw it completely if you plan on making it tomorrow.
if it smells good go ahead
I'm going to go with yes. If you've kept it covered with ice, it should have been a very slow thaw. I think the temp in Connecticut has been around 45 or so. It would take a 23 pound turkey about 3-4 days to defrost in the fridge and you can keep it for another 3 in the fridge before cooking. Cook it thoroughly with NO stuffing inside just to be on the safe side. Make a pan of dressing to cook separately.
Like the above answer there are many variables. However if it has been around 30-40 degrees F then it should be fine. The cooking coment above is partially correct. There are some bacteria that cooking will not kill, specifically spoilage bacteria. You can Kill Salmonella if you cook to the proper temp. In poultry you want at least 170 Degrees F. If your description is correct and it doesn't smell bad go ahead!
