What does deer meat taste like?!

Question: Deer meat, if it has not been heavily seasoned, will taste "gamey," similar to the taste of lamb or goat or javelina, etc. The first time I had lamb, I thought it tasted like deer meat! If the venison, or deer meat, is made into sausage or chili or other highly seasoned dishes, it will taste most like beef.
