What is ranch dressing ???????!

Question: Im from South Africa. and we don't have ranch dressing here,is it the same has 1000 island dressing(it's pink)

It's a dressing made with buttermilk and fresh herbs and seasonings. It taste really good. It's also used as a dip for chips or fresh vegetables.

NOTE: I have to tell you that this is my favorite salad dressing. Then it's 1000 Islands. The two are nothing alike. Ranch uses the buttermilk... which I usually hate. But once everything is mixed together.... a wonderful flavor emerges. The 3rd responder said it taste a little like blue cheese.... I don't agree. I cannot stand that stuff and would gag on it. I've added some links for you and I hope you'll give it a try.

Ranch dressing in the U.S.A. has a slight blue cheese/buttermilk/cucumber and dill flavor, but it's not as strong as blue cheese dressing.

It is nothing like thousand island dressing which is basically a mixture of mayonnaise and ketchup or tomatoes
