Question: I purchased a bag of cinammon sticks 2 years ago. How long should I keep them before chucking them in the trash?

I am a former chef and like with all "Whole" spices, cinnimon sticks, whole nutmeg, and unground seed like cumin, coriander and pepper, they retain there flavour and freshness longer un ground.

As for you question, cinnimon stick will last 2-5 yrs in the stick form, ground about 1 year. If you keep them in a sealed container, bag or jar. I use mine for mulled ciders, in curry, I have a spice grinder, actually a coffee grinder that I use for only spices.

Pretty much forever as long as there in the stick form. I think ground is like a year depending on storage. You may lose potency but they should still be good.
