What are the regulations and requirements on bottled water?!

Question: For example for water to be labeled "spring water", does the company have to provide proof to the FDA that the water actually comes from a spring? In other words, am I wasting my money on glorified tap water?

There are not much regulations on bottled water.. may say spring water, but could just be tap water form someones well. May be labeled mountain water, but that doesn't mean it came from any mountain. So yes it is just glorified tap water... the reason I buy bottled water is I can't stand the taste of our city water nor do I trust our city water to be safe.. but again that does not mean bottled water is any more safe to drink.
