What is coffee/teas natural form? Caffinated or Decaf?!

Question: How do they decaf or caffinate it? Just wondering which is the better form, heathwise, to consume.

Both coffee and tea naturally have caffeine, thus, the versions without caffeine are called "decaffeinated" rather than "caffeine free" as in colas (cola nuts do not contain caffeine--it is added).

To remove caffeine from coffee beans, several processes are used. The most natural is called "Swiss Water Process" in which the beans are soaked in water so the caffeine--which is water-soluble--can be removed. After the beans are decaffeinated, they are dried then can be roasted as any coffee beans. The other processes use other materials as solvents for the caffeine. So, look for Swiss water processed beans for the healthier alternative.

I presume that tea is decaffeinated in a similar way, but, I don't know for sure.

Well the only thing I know about caffinated and decaffinating coffee is that they wash the beans first before the grinding process to remove the caffine.

Coffee and tea naturally have caffeine, but reciece special treatment to remove the caffeine.

coffee and tea are naturally caffinated that is why the Muslim countries took to them as they were non alcoholic but gave you a lift. Coffee has much more caffeine in it than tea, but tea has a natural sedative in it and calm the nerves without making you sleepy. They remove the caffeine by simply washing the products in a special solution which leaches the caffeine out. The coffee and tea are both good for you except at night, but first thing in the morning they waked you up. Too much of anything is bad for you.

it is naturally caffeinated. they have to remove the caffeine from coffee beans to make decaf.

Coffee and tea both have caffeine with the latter having more. Yes, tea actually have more caffeine than coffee. Decaf refers more to coffee, as in they went thru either a dry or wet wash to reduce the caffeine. So far, I do not know of any processes that can decaf tea leaves (so tea always have caffeine).

Tea would be the healthier choice especially the chinese and japenese version as they reduce the cholestrol level in the body and is a great after food drink.

To get the most of tea, start with Japanese Green tea and once you get used to the taste, move on to Oo long or Long Jin chinese tea, both are slightly bitter but great esp. after some oily meals like KFC.

Coffee wise, espresso would have almost similar effect if you would to drink it neat.

All that being said, drinking coffee or tea is an experience and indulging in it reduces stress and that by itself is healthy!:)

Natural and better is the traditional way : including caffeine
