Is a coffee gift better if the beans are whole, or ground?!
Answers: ...And does anyone know if Jamaica Blue mountain coffee is really as good as they say?Anyway this is for a friend of mine who loves coffee, and she has a little coffe grinder., Thanks
grind em good
If she grinds her own then buy the bean as it will last longer.
JBM is good coffee but it's tough to find a good roaster that carries it. Occasionally Starbucks carries a good Kona (which is my favorite)
Since she has her own grinder, give her the beans whole.
Once you grind the beans, they are only good for about a week...any longer, and they really won't have much of a flavor.
Sorry, I have never tried Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee, so I can't give you an opinion on that.
Since your friend has a coffee grinder, whole beans are a better coffee gift as it allows her to select the grind that she prefers. The whole beans last longer too.
Since they have a grinder give whole beans, this will ensure freshness.
Definately get whole bean since she has a grinder. As far as JBM...coffee is like wine, people have their own taste as to what is good. There are a few sites and stores that sell the 1/4 cup mini bags of variatal beans as samplers that would be a good gift, or even getting a year subscription to a coffee of the month club, where they send out each month a different type/style of coffee bean. I have tried a lot of the high end beans, from home roasting, to JBM and I always seem to like to come back to the Dunkin Donuts brand for some reason.
First, whole bean as it will stay fresh up to two weeks after roasting, You Did roast it right? or Know when it was roasted?
Second, this years crop so far has proven to be a less than average crop. So much so that the owner of my coffee outlet refused to buy any of the grean beans.
If she really loves coffee, don't give her stale beans or a bag of bad crop beans.
I have gotten it both ways, but I prefer it ground,it smells a lot better that way.
