Is starbucks coffee bad for me?!
Answers: I am 13 years old and i am tottaly addicted to starbucks these days. i drink a caramel frap almost every other day. is that bad for me? and i have been having my period more often.plz help!!
13 is a bit young to be drinking coffee on a regular basis I think. You really don't need the extra caffeine - to say nothing of the sugar(tons!) and fat(tons!) from the syrup, milk and cream that goes into a frapauchino drink. If you look on the web, you'll find that you're basically drinking the caloric equivalent of a McDonalds Big Mac!
It's OK to indulge once in a while, but I really don't think most teenagers need the extra calories - especially when it's just sugar and fat. Try to at least cut out the whipped cream, and replace the whole milk with non-fat. Coffee by itself has almost no calories, but still has a lot of caffeine which can affect your body in the usual ways - hard to sleep, restlessness, unable to concentrate, etc.
Besides which, just think of all the money you're spending. If you really like coffee that much, you can just buy your own coffee (even Starbucks brand), milk, and carmel syrup (Starbucks uses Toranni's - which is available in supermarkets) and make your own at home for a fraction of the price.
As for your period, talk to your gynecologist. Your overall diet, among other things, can affect your cycle. But you're still young and chances are your body is still trying to figure out what its cycle is supposed to be yet.
if you do it on a daily basis then it would be something to be worried about. same thing if you were to eat McDonald's every day wouldn't be good for you. most of those fast food (in this case coffee) places take a lot of short cuts to maximize profits which could in part end up jeopardizing your health.
I drink one every 3 or something days. It can be fattening just work out and make sure to get good sleep.
