Answers: Why does Somerfield only charge £1.00 for a 4pint carton of milk?? and most other BIG NAME supermarkets charge £1.34? - most people buy milk - what vast proftis they must be making.

cos the supermarkets having been pricefixing their milk. Tesco, Morrisons, sainsburys have all been at it and have had their knuckles rapped to the tune of a £116 million fine (peanuts).

They did it to help britains dairy farmers.,,, allegedly!!

not sure where your at to get that price but when gas goes up food and milk will go up

There are many costs related to products... maybe the Somerfield brand has lower advertising costs, maybe they buy from different vendors, and they may be taking a loss on the product to get people to come to their store to buy other items that make them a profit.

Because they can I suppose. Most of the other stores tend to be well out of the way and so if you go to do your shopping, you buy it there anyway.

There was some rubbish not so long ago about scrapping milk all together, and you could only have UHT. Something about the costs of getting the milk, treating it etc etc. If you're interested I'm sure there is something on the net about it

uuuhhhmmm... for me here inphlippines the price of our milk is P50.00 something!!!! i hope i help something a little!!!!

In phoenix ,AZ> its about $3.00 a gallon(US) so your about a 1/2 the US price...
