What is the fascination with Starbucks?!

Question: Why do so many people claim that they can't survive their day without it? I buy store brand coffee, set it up in my very own coffee pot, and get the kick I need, for much cheaper, and without standing in line. So whats that big deal? It sounds expensive and a hassle. What is so good about it??

Haha, yea, I wonder the same thing myself! See, a lot of this is trendy, and people in our country are very trendy. I have no clue what makes these ridiculous trends take off. Like "everyone HAS to have starbucks coffee. Gimme a break, like you said what the hell is wrong with store bought coffee or coffee in a diner or anywhere else. Not to mention th price, yeash! It cracks me up what people are willing to waste their money on...
I guess because it's advertised all over and the celebs drink it so everyone wants to feel important by buying Starbucks coffee!

It's a status symbol, the coffee isn't so good, it's more like a milkshake. The place is really comfortable. That's all.

I agree with you, lets see spend 5 bucks on a can of coffee that will last you 2 or 3 months, or 5 bucks on a single cup over overly sugery coffee. Hell if you want to replicate a cup of starbucks coffee, just pour in half a cup of sugar and half a cup of chocolate syrup into your morning brew. Although I am guilty of maybe a handful of times a year drinking the occasional starbucks or whichever book store coffee shop is around, but I never go out of my way for that stuff.

Starbucks coffee has a good taste. But it attracts people because it is a very known place.

Me and you both, my friend. I will never understand it either. I have had Starbucks once in my life and that is when a friend bought it for me for my birthday because she was astounded that I had never had it before. I didn't like it enough to go back obviously.

And, if one of those 'Starbucks addicts' were to figure out how much they spend each month on coffee, they might just think twice next time they order a 5/6 dollar drink.

And also, why is so much pressure put on fast food places for the obesity today? I'm sure Starbucks had just as much to do with that as McDonald's and Wendy's with their high fat high calorie sugar loaded 'beverages'.

It's a culture, a club if you will. People enjoy going to a place that they call their own. Many Starbucks fans frequent the same store at the same time in order to be served by the people they like. Yes it is a caffeine fix but it is also a community, an atmosphere and overall, a relaxing place to visit.

I don't know what the big deal is . I live in the state is was first introduced in and ive tried it and its no better than my home brew . I think home brewed is better and cheaper . Starbucks is a status symbol in seattle . Too expensive for me!!!

yes i don't get it either. I have bought starbucks once in a while, but it was considered a treat for me to get the tazo green tea frap while at the airport. I've also tried some other drinks, but it was mostly to use their atmosphere and chit chat.

But people that can't live without it, or need it everyday are brainwashed in my opinion. The coffee drinks are loaded with sugar and heavy cream, and you can hardly taste the coffee.

You have to hand it to the Starbucks marketing though. They don't advertise much but use their location and reputation to sell their drinks.

Because its a trend. A materialistic thing. People spend there entire lives trying to "fit in". People think everyone likes it and only the rich and "classy" drink it. No idea why but there are people who think that way. And that its a high maintenance thing to do.

They are clueless
