Yes, drinking that much caffeine will give you headaches and the shakes.

If you quit caffeine 'cold turkey' you will feel more sluggish and tired than you have ever felt. It took me about a week to feel normal again. It was much worse than I expected it to be. Drink plenty of water, take some tylenol and you will live through the withdrawal.

First off, you lied to your doctor. Caffeine IS a drug and a powerful one at that. Just because its legal and doesnt affect your motor skills like alcohol does doesnt mean its not a drug. I have been drinking coffee since I was 11 and have been using it habitually most of my life. At the most I was drinking from 12-25 cups a day probably (I used to own a coffee shop and worked really long hours). At that time I was having serious anxiety attacks, constant irritablity and was unable to wake up or function without a cup of coffee in the morning. Now I pretty much just drink a cup or two when I first get up. Quitting isnt that hard, its not like alcohol or cigarettes, but you will have withdrawal symptoms, most notably headaches, which can be quite severe. Ive always had luck just weaning myself off. Try drinking tea, which contains caffiene but is much easier on your system

i think your gonna have a rough ending to this addiction.. i do it all the time... weekly.. i'll have coffee for a week straight everyday sometimes 2 or 3 times a day sometimes a diet coke or something on top of it. than the next week i'll start to see that i'm having way too much caffeen and getting too shakey so the whole next week i'll stick to water.. and you feel so tired and drug out.. but in a few weeks you feel alot better...

i've never been as addicted as you are tho its gonna be tough....

maybe you should wean yourself off first?

or does that mess up your experiment?

i suggest one day you have 4 cups of coffee..
the next day have three
the next day have 2
and than have 1 cup for about a week and than stop

see how you do.. its gonna be tough and your gonna have head aches and feel tired but... its better than making yourself sick over it.

I went cold turkey with caffeine. It was horrible. Shakes, headache, I couldn't think clearly, I was irritable. Now, I rarely drink caffeine products anymore.

youre best bet for going off of caffeine, especially if youre starting to feel addicted to it and consuming so much daily, is to go off cold turkey. i would recommend doing it when you have some free time - take a day or two off from work, and be able to lay around in bed or on a couch for a long weekend and do absolutely nothing. youre gonna be grouchy and tired and feel nauseous and dizzy but if you try giving it up a little at a time its too hard to stay in control and its always "just one more cup of coffee wont hurt". ive been there and i know how hard it is but you can do it if you really want to. good luck, and hope it all goes well.
