Frosting help! Too runny...now what?!

Question: Okay, I'm a novice. I put a half cup of margarine, a box of powdered sugar, and a teaspoon of vanilla in the mixer. Then I added too much milk. Now my frosting is runny, and I don't have any more powdered sugar. Is there anything I can add to it to make it thicker? Will it thicken as it sits?

Or am I out of luck?

Thanks for the help!

you can try putting two egg whites in and whipping it up...be advised tho that the cake will need to be refrigerated since it will have raw egg in the frosting.

Add more XXX sugar, that's the only way. It will not dry or harden as it sits. Beg, borrow, or buy some more powdered sugar.

Add more powdered sugar.

You need more sugar. There is no way to thicken it (that I know of) without more sugar.

what I do for pumpkin bars icing is add some cream cheese.

You'll need more powdered sugar, sorry to say.
If you can't go and purchase more, it looks like you're SOL.

You might be able to add a mixer to it, like Coco powder. But I don't know how well that'll help.
