I think it started with kids back in the 40's or 50's.
They would 'dare' each other to drink mixed soda's, combination of coke, grape, orange, rootbeer, creme...just about anything.
I don't see why it couldn't be juices also.
Gee, sure do miss those 'innocent' days...
