Do you think it's insane to pay for bottled water?!
Answers: ..one of my friends think it is...and id like to know what you think
They are same people that yell the loudest about the gas prices then pay a couple of bucks for a pint of water and five bucks for coffee.
There was a news report on some time ago that said bottled water was just tap water put in a bottle. I have a water distiller, it removes all the metals, pollution and poisons, the problem is it also removes all the vitamins, I then run it through a Pur water filter. excellent tasting water.
i think its insane that they havent figured ouyt an efficient way to purify salt water
Yes.. it is a proven fact that it is tap water in bottled water.. unless it is convienient for you to purchase. say you are going somewhere with no running water then it makes sense..
Water in a regular tap is tested, treated, and approved for drinking. The stuff in bottles is just the same. Why pay for bottled water when the water from the faucet is just fine. Besides, why clutter the earth with empty plastic bottles.
"insane"? No.
Its a cross between laziness and having too much cash on hand.
If you really think it through, it is neither a good use of money (since tap water is both safe and in many cases exactly the same stuff), nor is it ecologically sound (since all of those plastic bottles have to go somewhere and only a relatively small portion of them get recycled).
Sane? Sure.
Mature? No.
You arent paying for the water per-say, but for the packaging, the plastic, the shipping, and the process of actually getting the water from whatever source into the bottles themselves.
Bottle water is bad, however you put it. Filter and bottle your own water. It's better for the environment
(no landfills with plastic bottles, less emmissions from the transport of those bottles)
I don't think it is. I live in an area with "hard" water and the taste is not very good. In some areas the water is downright yucky tasting. Not to mention there have been areas with turbidity problems which with higher levels can cause gastrointestinal diseases because of higher than acceptable levels of bacteria, etc.
Using bottled water and water filters aren't a waste of money in my opinion.
I think it's wasteful in most cases. The bottle manufacturing process uses petroleum, and many empty bottles end up in landfills. It's better to use a water filter pitcher if you're concerned about the taste of tap water. Tap water is more strictly regulated than bottled water, too. Of course, if there are health concerns regarding your tap water, bottled water is an alternative.
