I like my Mr. Coffee, which when you pull the carafe out while it is perking will stop perking while pour your cuppa', then go back to perking when you place it back on the warmer.
We LOVE our Bunn... the stainless steel one. We drink a LOT of coffee. Bunns aren't the right one for the occasional coffee drinkers, but for serious drinkers! It makes a whole pot in three minutes. And It hasn't broke down yet, it's been two years now. I bought it cause I was tired of other makes breaking down so fast.

i have a black and decker it is really good you can program it to start at a certain time so when you get up you don't have to wait for your coffee to brew
My favorite brand of coffee maker is a Kerr jar and a nylon filter. Now I've had very good coffee made in Haiti with a nylon footie and a jar or vessel. Just boil the water and pour over the grounds. No worrying about whether you left the pot on while you drove off to work and will you burn the house down, either.
Also: Here's Amish version of coffee: No filter. Just put grounds in cup, pour hot water over, and use your teeth (assuming you have a few) to strain out the grounds.. Enjoy!!!
Here's a WWII trick that we used in truck stop (no I'm not that old that is where they got the trick though), reuse filter once. Every other pot, just put new grounds on top of old grounds, and pour hot water over grounds. Trucker's coffee scrumptious, this is how my dad likes his coffee, so it can spring legs and walk out of the place..

Keurig for about $250.00. Make individual cups and your not wasting 10 cups out of a 12-cup pot for two people every morning. Just keep it filled with water and you can have a fresh, hot cup in 30 sec with virtually no clean up. All you have to do is remember to place your coffee order every month or two months. The higher price of the coffee and the maker gets offset by convenience, not throwing away unused coffee, not having to clean a pot and not having to mess around with old coffee grounds.
Expensive purchases should be looked at as investments.
Mr. Coffee has been great for us and we are big time coffee drinkers and VERY serious about the taste.
I bought a Mr Coffee with a clock and timer. It rocks. We got rid of our Starbucks 300.00 coffee maker because it just wore itself out. The Mr Coffee makes a great cup of coffee. Honestly, a good cup of coffee is not so much the maker, but rather the quality bean.

Do not buy anything that relies on electricity.. french press is simple straight up and will last forever if used properly.
My parents still have a Bunn after 10 or so years and it is currently dying now (RIP), but it made some great coffee.
I bought my own little Cuisinart and I love that thing. I can stop the maker and get a cup before it is even done brewing..makes my impacient self happy.
