Does drinking coffee (caffeine) dilate blood vessles or shrink them?!

Question: THANKS.

Answers: THANKS.

coffee is a vasoconstrictor. that is why I can't quit drinking it, because when I do, my blood vessels in my head open up and I get a massive headache : (

Dilate=shrink=contract...

shrink

Dilate, which is why it's used in headache medication.

Interesting question. My mother and grandmother told me if I drank coffee or tea, I was going to be a short person. So never drank the stuff. I am 5'1, hey can you imagine how short I would have been if I had drank it. My mom is 4'10. :)

Caffeine constricts the blood vessels.

it constricts them, and it is used in headache medicines to help you absorb the pain medication faster. Also it can be used in a pinch (if you don't over consume) to help you stabilize your headache until you get to some pain medication.

trust me I have had migraines since I was 6...
