Question: my fiance says that if you keep refilling a water bottle with tap water and reusing it makes the plastic in the water bottle deteriorate and then it gets into the water and contaminates it...is it true? thanks for your responses

An extremely small amount of plastic will always leach into the water. Hot water will increase the amount slightly.

However, it won't hurt you. The actual amount of plastic will be minimal -- almost untraceable.

It's completely safe to drink out of those plastic bottles.

That Urban Legend would be classified as false. Go ahead, recycle all you want :D

i always use mine several times then throw them out...i read that too..... this particular type of plastic is not meant to be use over and over again

olden days when plastic bottle invented, they said, you should recycle them, use them as along as you can, because the plastic will take hundreds of years to decompose, now some of the smart guys from scandinavian country invented a machine that extract petroleum from plastic. Many countries start saying that it is bad to reuse the plastic bottle. To me, I am sure there are nothing wrong with reuse them, as long as you do not put very hot water in them.
