Is it true that diet sodas have chemicals in them that can cause cancer?!

Question: Diet pop has an artificial sweetener called Aspartame. There are studies TRYING to link Aspartame to diseases, such as, brain tumors, brain lesions, and lymphoma. It is not proven that this causes those yet. A study published in April 2006 sponsored by the National Cancer Institute involved 340,045 men and 226,945 women, ages 50 to 69, found no statistically significant link between aspartame consumption and leukemias, lymphomas or brain tumors.

With that being said, I would also like to add that several, upon several things will cause cancer. You have cars, mold, dust, germs, genetics, radio waves, radiation, certain water, high doses of sugar, etc.

I do not think that there is anything to worry about. If it did cause cancer, they would probably have removed all diet pops in America. The pop corporations of America would then have to find alternatives to producing a diet pop. I think we should only worry then there is a proven case present!

I, personally, do not like diet pop, but I do not find anything bad in it. If you like it, then be my guest and drink it. Just keep in mind that there are so many things that can give you cancer and make you sick. Enjoy life, and drink up!

havent heard that one

I don't think so, but it might be possible.

Some of the sweeteners used in many diet drinks have been shown to cause cancer in laboratory animals, but the test conditions are far from similar to the real world, so don't frighten yourself too much. At the same time, remember that these are artificially created chemicals, and ask yourself if you really want large quantites of them in your body.

all carbonate drink is bad for our health..not just cancer ok..but many type of disease..drink a lot of plain water..

In laboratory rats there were some findings, but I haven't read of any for many, many years...
There have never been any findings about diet sweeteners causing cancer in humans, and if you were to give someone the equivalent amount of sweetener (in proportion to human body weight) that the rats ingested, then a person would have to digest one and a half times their own body weight of sweetener each day!
The sweetener in the study that I refer to was Aspartame, which I believe has now been in use throughout the world for over 20 years.
