---Milk or orange juice???? what's better??????!

Question: Ok so my doctor doctor told that I need more calcium because I don't drink milk that much, I only drink milk when I have a chocolate milk. I don't like milk that much, so I went to the store to get something with a lot of calcium that was not milk and I found out that orange juice ( calcium on it) had 5% more calcium than milk. So I don't know which is better. I don't really care about the taste right now. but can someone tell me what's a better source of calcium?????

Milk is for baby cows. Fact.
We don't have all the enzymes required to break it down so all the calcium in it is not used.

Eat almonds (nuts). One of the highest sources of calcium you can get.

No, orange juice is NOT for baby oranges before you ask :-)

Milk if you get low fat and fat free.

milk

If you like orange juice, drink that. Just find one with added calcium. I prefer milk, but you need to make your decision.

drink milk one day
den orange juice another day...

milk, or take pills to get what you need.

Milk for sure

they both hav there good points and bad ponts.

Actually . . it doesnt matter as long as you are taking in the calcium. . . I suggest you take vitamin, like Men's One-a-day, it has plenty of calcium that a person needs a day and whole bunch of other vitamins that you need. I take women's one-a-day.

Orange juice is perfectly fine, but you must take into account that your body requires vitamin D to absorb calcium. I don't know how sunny it is where you live, but it would be best to ensure that your calcium fortified OJ is also fortified with vitamin D

I drink Minute Maid frozen Orange Tangerine (sweeter) juice that is fortified with both Calcium and Vitamin D. It is made specifically for people who do not drink milk. I highly recommend it :)

oj, - better for your health. besides milk has cow pus in it! yuck! I would never drink that pus stuff!

The store bought milk won't be that great as it has had all the goodness processed out of it. You need raw milk that is straight from a farm where the cow's are not injected with all sorts of hormones, etc. Try making milkshakes with banana, vanilla, nuts, etc instead of chocolate all the time.
Most calcium supplements can't be absorbed properly so you need to get it in the most natural form you can. Check out the website below for more info. The website also has some great shake mixes that you can buy.

You can drink the orange juice that is fortified or if you do not care for orange there several other juices that are calcium fortified. I sometime get a cranberry juice that is fortified. There are also other calcium supplements on the market. In tablet or in powdered forms. Ask you local Pharmacist. There are some calcium tablets that are harder to digest than others.

I really like milk because it is also high in protein and I really prefer eating oranges to orange juice. "Better" here can be a matter of preference and balance. Try some and find out which you like best ... because ultimately you are going to USE the products you like.

You may also need to take a vitamin D supplement. Milk is fortified with vitamin D .... some calcium supplement are and others are not... You will need to read the labels. Your body can not utilized calcium without sufficient vitamin D.

Note: No "one a day" product can give you all the calcium your body needs. Your digestive tract cannot process that much calcium... you need your calcium requirement in 3 or better yet 4 doses.

Do not forget that cheese, cottage cheese, and yogurt are also great sources of calcium.. Soy products are also high in calcium... however, I DO NOT recommend soy products for men.

Your calcium can be obtained from fruit, veg, and nuts. especially broccoli.
Give milk the flick, it's only for babies, and calves.
Some third world countries never see milk, and benefit from not having clogged arteries.
Calcium is not created in a vacuum, as you need to have an understanding of the mix-and- match, when it comes to vitamins, minerals, and other trace elements.
Calcium also works hand-in-hand with exercise and sunlight, for strengthening bones. So as you can see, calcium is not one food alone, but an interactive mineral, that needs to be part of a balanced lifestyle.

Did your Doctor send you for a bone test to come up with your need for more calcium ?

you could try having fruit smoothies with fruit, youghurt and milk - so that you have vitamin c and two servings of daily calcium intake for breakfast. Vitamin c helps your body absorb calcium. Or if you find milk gross , try finding a high calcium milk and just try including it with your cereals so you don't notice it so much.
