Can a PT Starbucks employee work at a local, indep. coffee house-or is there some kind of rule against that?!

Question: Is there anything in your employee contract saying you can't work at a different, mom & pop coffee house?

It's in the employee handbook that you CANNOT work at another coffee house at the same time that you are employed at Starbucks.
Other coffee shops are seen as competition so that is why not. If they found out, you pretty much would be terminated.

Yeah you should probably look at your employee hire package. most companies have a conflict of interest in the SOP and is usually a immediate terminating offense.

Usually that only applies to upper management, but it's certainly worth checking out since the consequence is termination.

i do it. i work at starbucks while i'm at school, and when i come to my parents house over breaks and summer vacation i work at a local coffee place where i have been working for a few years. the trick is, i don't tell either employer that i work for the competition.
i guess it is a "conflict of interests" but i don't see the harm in doing it.
