Juicers............ ive just juiced 5 whole oranges and got 2 glasses of juice from it?!
Answers: im trying to get healthy but my hubby says its just sugar and water as all the pulp has gone? surely hes wrong? can u tell me please x
No Husband is wrong.. it is not JUST sugar & water. 2 glasses of juice from 5 oranges is very good.
It's the liquid (with the orange nutrients) & fructose of the orange, Your body readily absorbs the juice compared to the digestion of the whole fruit.
I personally rarely juice Fruit, too much of a rush, tends to leave me dingy. You probably would not sit down & eat 5 oranges (45 calories each, plus the fiber slows the release of the "sugar")This fiber is GOOD for you too. But you can easily drink 2 glasses of juice (122 calories each) plus a very high frutrose content, hence my buzz factor.
I eat my Fruit & Juice Veggies. The idea of Juicing Veggies is to get added concentrated Veggies into your body. Plus the juice is quickly absorbed & used more fully than breaking them down with digestion. I consider myself a avid Juicer. I strongly believe Juicing has true health benefits.
Fruit Juices are Cleansers & Veggie Juices are Healers.
There are plenty of sites on Juicing especially in the Raw Food sites.
Start simple ~
Basic Carrot Juice
1 lbs. Carrots (about 8) washed, peeled if not organic
1 Apple, washed
Run through juicer & strain. Makes about 1 glass of juice. If it is too strong in the beginning water it down. Slowly work up to drinking full strength juice.

GARDEN SURPRISE JUICE
This past month, Rhonda demonstrated the following juice recipe, and it was DELICIOUS! (Should serve 2)
4 carrots (medium size)
1 cup fresh spinach
1 red bell pepper (quartered and seeded)
2 celery ribs (cut in 2” pieces)
Wash and prepare all vegetables, process through juicer, strain, ENJOY!
*ORGANIC INGREDIENTS ARE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED.

In those two glasses you have all the goodness of FIVE oranges! The body can't digest the pulp so it has no nutritional value.
Drinking two glasses of juice is a lot easier too!
I love making juice drinks as they are very healthy and an easier way to digest one of your 5 a day. However much fruit you use though, a glass only counts as 1 portion. It does not have all the additives of shop brought products
fiber is always a good thing, just eat the oranges. Much better for you, and takes more time. Drink water.
