Tap water?!
I am from South Africa and we drink the tap water there, but was told that I should not drink the tap water here in London?
I have tried it and it seems fine.
Thanks

When you first move you want to slowly move over from drinks that have boiled water to drinking cool normal tap water. This is because we all adjust to germs and other things that are in the air and water in an area, so if you were to switch to tap water in one location when you are from another so far away you are going to overwhelm your immune system. The most commonly noticed immediate problem some people have is Diarea but the real problems will be in 7 days to 2 months as things over throw your body.
If you add fresh tap water slowly your body will not be over whelmed and you will develop an immunity to the common things found in the air and water in this new place. It is like when people get a vaccine, it's usually a dead strain of something so their body can examine it and never fall victim to it,.. only you are working with live strains.
The places that are assosiated with the English Language ( The UK, the US, Austrilia, & Canada) tend to use special water treatments in their "Maniciple Water" or Tap water,.. this is different for spring and well water ( they have different treatements for well water).
Where I live in the US we are given Recycled Sewage and public swimming places water. The problem is not just this but things vary greatly.. there may be problems in your local area that are known by people who watch the News but are not posted on signs on every corner. Knowing there was a chemical spill and your tap water is contaminated or that your aragation system is made of the wrong materials and is haveing things seep in isn't as Hot in the News as what the Celabs are doing or if someone was murdered.
You may want to talk to your neighbors to see if anyone has details on problems. I would get a Water Filtration System ( this is just something you put on your Facet that filters out certain things). Like I said you also need to gradually introduce the local water into your system because it's going to be full of things that can easily over whelm your system but everyone that lives there has built up immunity to.. it's the normal state of things around the world.
The tap water is fine, it goes through regular and stringent tests, everyone drinks it in the UK.
Cos its recycled about 5 times daily.
So you're drinking recycled urine etc.
In other areas water is recycled about once every 2 days.
Yes it's already been recycled about ten times...ask the water board. Please read up about recycled water in London. It may put you off for life but it is safe to drink but the thought of where is has been before it comes out of your taps for the umpteenth time is off putting.
tape water is fine it has been cleaned with chlorine and its safe to drink
just dont drink hot tap water because it is not as clean as the cold water
The UK's drinking water is perfectly safe to drink!

Why not? I think everyone drinks tap water... and it will be fine it's clean of course and safe otherwise we wouldn't be drinking it!! =)
Yes it is fine to drink.
The average glass of tap water in London has been re-cycled 6 times. Re-cycling of the water takes out most impurities but it is know London Water has a very high level of oestrogen due to so many people on the pill. This will explain why in some reservoirs in London area fish have been found to change sex .. Crazy but true.. look it up.
This also accounts for the high proportion of men in London who have no genitalia. In Yorkshire this is not a problem
Some of the bottled water we drink is really purified tap water.
If that's what you have drink it and don't worry about it.
The tap water in London is perfectly safe to drink and probably better for you than bottled mineral water.
Tap water is fine, it's been recycled from...other things, but it has to go through so many filters and checks on the way to your tap that it's perfectly safe.
tap water is good
Its fine to drink but will obviously taste different to what you are used to.
Also any different water will have its affects on your system in the beginning.
Your from South Africa and questioning our water purification system!
The water everywhere in the UK is fine but it does have different tastes according to the area London water is hard while Cornwall has really soft water and is completely different.
What is good for you in this day in age........
