Are soda cans made of tin or aluminum?!


Question: There are very few products which use tin cans any longer. Tin is a very valuable mineral and cheaper methods have been instituted such as coating, plastics etcto replace the tin. Most soda and beer cans are now formed from aluminum of which 75 % are recycled.

Correct they are stamped from sheets of aluminum like car parts, but there may be some canned foods from either China, India or Asia that has a tin alloy in the steel based can.

Cans have to be solder for them to be sealed, with pop/soda cans they are pressed and lids are sealed with a press along the seamed lid.

I was a chef for many years (20+) and have toured canning operations here in Canada, Thailand and Jamaica.

Here in Ft Worth,There made of aluminum.
