What are all the ingredients in different kinds of soda/pop? SCIENCE FAIR!?!
Answers: this is for science fair!! plz give me as much info as possible on soda/pop! my topic is what soda fizzes the most when shaken... thanx so much!!!
Carbonated water, and a syrup which contains either an artificial sweetener and or sugar and a proprietary mix of flavors.
The ratio of carbonated water and sugars will definitely have an effect on how much fizz a soda pop will have. I will say that rootbeer fizzes the most where mountain dew fizzes the least. If you look at the sugar to carbonated water in mountain dew you will see that it has one of the highest sugar contents in the soda pop industry.
However, if you look at straight soda water, which has no sugar, it definitely fizzes but for only a brief amount of time due to the fact that there is no sugars to increase the viscosity of the liquid that the CO2 gas is suspended in therefore the release of CO2 gas is immediate making soda water very explosive in it's release but very short in duration.
I found that root beer seems to have the magic ratio for a nice, prolonged period of CO2 gas release due to the right amount of viscosity of the liquid the CO2 is suspended in.
