What is on my my coffee?!

Question: When I make coffee, if I dont pour it out of the pot right away it gets a rainbow like film on the top that sticks to the mug and straw. I have hard water, and have cleaned out the pot with the dish washer, and vinegar. I've also tried just using diluted vinegar through the machine. What is the rainbowy film and how can i fix it?

as the previous answerers said, it's the oils in coffee (if the film is very thin).
Good coffee has more oil- that's where the flavor comes from.

It's the oils in the coffee.

mines do the same I figured it is grease. You know coffee comes from a bean, so my guess is grease

I believe all coffee has oils, though things like instant might not show it as much. How much oil you see also is affected by what type of preparaition you use . . . I use a French Press and I think that shows the most and if you have a percolator, it's probably a little better. I don't think the oils are cause for alarm.
