Getting over a caffeine high?!

Question: This morning I woke up a little sluggish and decided to grab a cup of Chai Tea on my way into the office. OMG! By the time I finished my drink I was totally SPUN OUT of my mind. It was like I became paranoid and my hands got all clammy and cold. I felt TERRIBLE. I drank tons of water and slowly but surely a few hours later I could feel the affects starting to discipate. Does anyone else have this problem? I usually avoid any caffenated products but today I was desparate. How do I get back to normal and feeling like myself? It's left me kinda jittery, on edge, and oddly,,,,,depressed. I just wanna get over it.

Eat something sweet. Not a ton of candy, but have yourself a small donut, or a bagel with some jelly on it or something like that. You need the carbs and sugar right now because caffeine makes your blood sugar drop. That's why you're feeling shaky and depressed. Low blood sugar does that to you. If your stomach is upset from it, because caffeine can also stimulate/irritate your GI tract, take an antacid.

You're on track with drinking a lot of water...that never hurts.

Caffeine sometimes does that to me too. I normally drink coffee, but not a lot, so if I have an espresso, an energy drink or something like that I often feel like you're describing.

Eating a good solid meal helps me.

There are certain health food supplements that help the liver metabolize caffeine, but I don't think that's what you are asking for. But anything that increases your metabolism would probably help you get over it, like taking a brisk walk or even a jog.

You might be a slow phase-I (liver) detoxifier. There are certain dietary considerations for this body type that can help you in general, like broccoli and brussel sprouts. A good B vitamin wouldn't hurt either.

EATTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!! eat scrammbled eggs. don't ask why. just do it. I SWEAR it works. Its some odd home remedy.

Your body has metabolized and rid itself of caffeine from this morning. While some people are sensitive to caffeine, they usually are not THAT sensitive. If this happens frequently, I would suggest a trip to your doc for routine blood tests. Other things could be causing this (all of them treatable). For now, eat something with a little fat and protein, like peanut butter, and drink water.

sometimes you get high or
maybe you might go a little pshyco

What you had was an anxiety attack. Caffeine can do that, especially with someone who does'nt drink any. Also there might be other herbs in it that can cause anxiety. Eat some carbs, and try to relax. Maybe walking or some kind of exersize would help.
