What's the difference between a Shirley Temple? and Cherry 7up.?!

Question: Shirley Temple is 7-Up with Grenadine. Cherry 7-Up is flavored with cherry juice.

Answers: Shirley Temple is 7-Up with Grenadine. Cherry 7-Up is flavored with cherry juice.

Well my aunt always made a shirley temple w/ Sprite and Cherry 7up is with 7up.

When I was a kid a SHIRLEY TEMPLE was made with gingerale & a marchino cherry & a bit of the marchino cherry juice.
Making one with 7up or Sprite is a "variation" on the original.

A Shirley Temple is a non-alcoholic mixed drink made with ginger ale, grenadine syrup, and orange juice and garnished with a maraschino cherry and a slice of lemon.[1] The ginger ale is often substituted with 7 Up, Sprite, or similar lemon-lime soft drink, and the orange juice is commonly left out.

A Cherry 7 Up is just that 7 Up and a cherrie

While there are the differences mentioned above, I think the flavor is basically the same. Shirley Temple's can be made with any lemon lime drink, including 7-Up. When I was a kid my mom used to make them for me by mixing a little cherry juice with 7-Up. I didn't care that she wasn't following Chasen's official recipe. There are so many variations in the recipe, everyone makes it differently. Same differences can be mentioned with a Roy Rogers & a Cherry Coke.
