Bottled water vs. Tap Water, What are your thoughts?!

Question: I hate the taste of tap water, even with a filter of some sort it still to me taste bad. I like Reverse Osmosis water (without minerals, they make it taste like licking a dirty rock), but I know bottled water is not Enviromentaly friendly. I recycle all my water bottles but still feel bad about the environmental impact. Also I do not like the idea of drinking flouride (added to most tap water), from the research I have done it is only bennificial if you swish it in your mouth and can make you sick by swallowing it (which is why they say dont let kids swallow toothpaste and mouth wash). What are your thoughts?

Bottled is bad like you said. I like filtered tap, depending, of course, on how it's filtered. Have you ever tried an active carbon filter? They pull all the minerals out of the water. There are all kinds of filters out there, I can't imagine none of them taste better than bottled to you. Bottled tastes plastic to me!

tap water cuz it gives nutrients to ur teeth and possibly ur body.

my thoughts are that the water is the same. I've seen hidden videoof them filling 'bottled water" from a regular tap.

Get a Brita pitcher and a Pur filter on yoru faucet if you don't like the taste of your own tap water. Goodness knows we dont' need all those jillions of water bottles in the landfills as only a fraction of all of them get recycled.

Regardless of any of the flouride and mineral issues, I do not care for tap water. People claim it tastes the same as bottled water, but I disagree. Take a glass of plain tap water and a glass of bottled water and put them on your nightstand. Take a sip out of each one when you wake up. The evidence is right there! Tap water always tastes nasty the next day.

I think that I am doing my part by making sure that we recycle our bottles. I prefer the taste of bottled water, and it's not my fault if others don't recycle. Don't feel bad!

Tap water, those plastic bottles are not only a waste, but leach into the water. As for recycling them, it is very energy inefficient, best not to have them in the first place.

I personally don't mind filtered tap water. I suppose tap water in different parts of the country taste different, but ours tastes great filtered. Unfiltered, it tastes a bit rusty.

I think people that buy bottled water are buying it for either the taste or the piece of mind. They might be absolutely convinced that bottled water is better tasting or better for them, and can give a hoot for the environment.

Drink tap water and put it in your own bottle. Bottled water takes so much energy to make that plastic... so its a small sacrifice, drinking tap rather then bottled, so what...haven't the earth sacrificed enough resources for you to exist on earth, why don't you do your part and just drink tap

I have been avoiding bottled water lately due to the environmental impact. Even though there is a new recycling facility in my area, I still don't like the idea of the tons of bottles Americans use everyday. I also heard a commercial that said Americans go through something like 1.2 billion bottles every minute. I think I may have messed the stats up on that a bit, but I don't know. Anyway, I have decided that drinking tap water is more beneficial to the environment. Also, bottled water can be very expensive. Try getting a water filter, such as Brita or PUR. It will filter the water and take some of the taste out of it. And then there's the theory that bottled water comes out of a tap in the first place...

Would you rather spent over 1,000 dollars threw your life on nice tasting water or save 1,000 dollars and use the faucet. You don't NEED perfect water,I mean common people in Africa and South America drink water that has like clay in it.I think you can survive with a Little dirty water.

I like reverse osmosis water too. but i have a water distiller at home so I drink it most of the time. You can buy it for about $1200. It is so worth it. believe me. The distilled water takes away all the toxins from your body.

I like tap water, desalinated water also tastes fine. I think it is such a waste of money to buy water in a bottle, plus the environmental impacts of all those bottles. Fluoride added to the tap water is at a very low (constantly monitored) level, I am not sure about the levels in toothpaste though. I also think that tap water is cleaner than bottled.
