Tea bags into cold water?!

Question: I like some of the flavored teas. But I like them cold. I usually put the teabags in hot water, then add ice or wait for it to cool. Does the tea infuse properly if I put the tea bag into cold water instead?
Yes, yes, I know I'm lazy, but the computer is closer than the kitchen right now......

boiling water is required to extract all of the oils and flavoring into the water. After it steeps, then you can chill it with ice or put it into the fridge.

my guess is that you could use cold water but you won't get as much flavor and might not get all the benefits of the herb (chamomile, mint, hibiscus, etc)

No it won't infuse as well. Next time make extra cups of tea. Then you'll one cool just when you want it : )

huh?

Lipton and some other tea-bag manufacturers now make iced-tea bags. I've seen them in several flavors. You can find them in a regular grocery store.

the tea will taste better and you will get a better flavor if you infuse the tea with hot water. I will usually make a whole batch of hot tea, and then cool it down in the fridge in a pitcher so that I'll have a large quantity of iced tea whenever I want.
