I have been drinking bottled water for at least 5 years, now I 'm being told that I'm wasting my money?!

Question: In a way yes, it is a waste, depending on the water you buy. If you buy purified water, that is nothing more than having a filter on your faucet, it's just filtered water. But, it is also very convenient and easier to drink water out of a bottle rather than get a glass, get your ice, and then sometimes it tastes like the glass so yes, it is technically a waste of money but what isn't anymore?

yes.

you might be waisting your money, but atleast you know your getting fresh clean water. :) I like bottled water too .

i don't think so that all i drink is bottle water the water taste aw full i have been drinking bottle for at least 10 years water it is a lot better

hey im with you, i only drink bottle water, becasue i think it tastes funny from the tap, but i have heard that im wasteing my money, and that in some places, the tap water is cleaner than bottle water. some states dont even sell it and if do find it its really expensive, ive tried to stop drinking bottled water, but i find that wheni do this i end up just not drinking water at all, and i drink juices and soda in stead, so for me its worth it u have to make ur own call

I suppose it depends upon where you live and therefore where your water comes from. I'm lucky and live in greater Cleveland where I get very fresh and healthy water piped into my home from Lake Erie. But when I lived in NJ in the early 80s I had to use either bottled or filtered water. The only time I use bottled water around here is strictly for convenience - it certainly costs more and isn't healthier than my tap water. I'm sorry it took you 5 years to find that out in your area.

"but atleast you know your getting fresh clean water. :)"

Not exactly. It's not from Mount Fuji or some spring. Bottled watter IS tap water in many instances. In fact it's worse than tap water, because tap water is monitored every day, while bottled water is largely unregulated and left totally up to the manufacturer.

You're better off just boiling some tap water. If it's too "heavy" for you (mineral taste), run it through a filter. It'll still be loads cheaper than bottled water.

Tap water is also incredibly less polluting than bottled, if it matters to you.

You're not wasting your money. Bottled water is usually purer, filtered, distilled, or flavored. I buy it by the case and it tastes soo much better than my tap. Who cares what other people say!

In my opinion, yes, bottled water is a waste of money.

Not too long ago it was reported that Aquafina (a Pepsi product) and Dasani (a Coca-Cola product) are both made from water (purified)that comes from public reservoirs, meaning they are essentially tap water. Tap water is purified and tested regularly to make sure that it meets certain guidelines. It also contains fluoride which bottled water doesn't.

In addition the plastic bottles are overflowing in the land fills. As they are a petroleum based product, I wonder if years from now if they will find a percentage of oil is released into the bottled water consumed - yuck!

My suggestion would be to just have a reusable bottle. That's what we do.

You're not exactly losing money, but you are drinking filtered tap water. You would do just as good buying a water filter or purifier.

yeah that big come out of closet that its not pure and that its just tap water filtered and then placed into recycled water bottles is a shock to me. I like the bottled water anyways its convient and it tastes better than the tap water from my kitchen. I dont think its a waste in a way.
