Metabolism problem?!

Question: I don't know why, but whenever I drink beverages such as coffee, energy drinks, sodas, etc. I never get a caffeine jolt or anything.

Is this a metabolism problem/difference or is it that caffeine just doesn't effect some people?

Also, I don't have ADD or ADHD.

You probably just have a high tolerance for Caffeine, or your body lacks the caffeine receptor. Or you just aren't getting enough :)

Or if you are taking recreational drugs, you might have another opposite neuro-chemical taking up all the space for the caffeine receptors and preventing their release/and or absorption.

I think it is just different people are affected differently by different substances. If my b/f has one of those energy drinks he gets heart palpatations yet I don't feel a thing. He also goes to bed really early and can sleep anywhere and anytime. Often he has a coffee just so he can stay awake until 8:30! Where I will be awake all night with no stimulates at all.

Hope someone can give a more "medical" explanation for this.
