Are you supposed to brew coffee with cold water ?!

Question: To get the best and fullest extraction, the ideal brewing temperature to make coffee is between 195 deg F and 200 deg F.

For an automatic drip coffee maker, pour the water in cold and let the coffee maker heat the water (although very few automatic drip machines are able to heat the water much over 180 deg F.

For a French press or coffee press, heat the water to a full boil (that's 212 deg F), turn off the heat, and then let sit for 20 seconds to allow the temp to fall toward 195 deg F. Then pour into the French press carafe.

for a drip coffee maker yes cold. for those pods(tea bag type) no has to be hot, for the tank in a esspresso machine - cold. starting perk-cold. for the french press the water is suppose to be hot. hope this helps

I believe there is a phobia about water that sets in the Hot Water Heater as having a different taste or some odd flavor..
As far as the physics in any of the electrics.. you must heat 50of water to some where around 212of for cold water
rather than 140of to 212of That = $$$
so if you have hot tap water ready you do not have waste water otherwise cold is on demand.

I have no idea. I drink beer for breakfast :o)

Yes. My mom taught me to ALWAYS start cooking with cold water to hot. I don't remember why though.

Always start coffee with cold water, and if you can use filtered water that's the best.
