Is it safe to boil and drink the water out the hot water tap?!

Question: It's better to use water from the cold water tap. Hot water contains more minerals from the water pipes, and that can change its taste.

"Is it okay to use water from the hot water tap for drinking, cooking, or making baby formula?

Hot water generally comes from a hot water heater that may contain impurities that should not be ingested. Some of these impurities might be metals from household plumbing that are concentrated in the heating process. Additionally, these impurities from the household plumbing dissolve more rapidly in hot water than cold water causing the amount of impurities to be higher in hot water."

Let the water run till it's cold, especially first thing in the morning. This will flush out impurities.

Yes

yes coz you've destroyed the impurities

i would say yes,but i dont know 100%...ill be back to see answers

Boiling should be good as it would sterilize it. We have to do that when we can't buy water and purifiers are kinda expensive so we boil the water for tea and such and its good to do that for water out of the tap.

Yes but not from your radiators/heating system because of the chemical retardant placed in that system.

yes it's fine because you have boiled it.

Yes. But do it out of the cold tap in future as it has less chance of being contaminated.

This depends on the type of plumbing you have. In the UK, old houses used to have lead piping and a tank for the hot water. If you drank out of the hot tap, the reasoning was that you would take in more lead than if you drank cold water directly from the main. Possibly related to the higher solubility of lead salts in hot water.

If you have all copper plumbing, then in theory it should be OK.

yea u just boiled it doh!!! lol i had this argument at Thailand my partner wouldnt believe that if u boiled the tap water it would be safe ...and he used to keep buying bottled water to then boil it!! thick or what? lol

Personally, I'd let it cool down first.

i heard this once...... sorry no answer just intersted

yes it comes from the same water supply in the uk

In almost all houses, the hot tap water is fed from the same mains supply as the cold tap. The reason why it is unsafe to drink water from the hot tap supply is that it has had time to multiply trace bacteria in a warm environment.
If the water has been allowed to flow freely through the system for about 10 minutes then there is a good chance you would have flushed out any bacteria concentration and be safe to drink directly.
Any bacteria in the water supply is unable to survive boiling.

If you live in the states, you don't have to even boil the water for it to be safe to drink. water companies are required to test their water daily so that it will be safe to drink constantly. i live in a third world country, and even i drink from the faucet occasionally (I wouldn't advise that) anyways, it will be perfectly safe to drink out of the hot water faucet.

it tastes horrible, their is no way i would. plus i think it still presents a risk, my advice find another alternative.

Yes

Yes. It comes from the same source as your cold water. Boiling will kill the bad stuff.

NO. NO. NO. NO. NO. the cold water goes through your boiler, and who the heck knows how clean your boiler is. have you ever looked inside your toilet's water tank, ever notice all that black sediment on the bottom of the tank? that stuff is also at the bottom of your boiler system. and when was the last time your boiler was cleaned? there must be a lot of mud and sediment inside. at least your tea kettle was clean when you put cold water into it.

....and also hot water can leach heavy metals in the plumbing, i wouldn't risk it.

yes safe as it could be bottled water is boiled and bottled always remember to clean the bottle before refilling it

Yes for over two years i had no choice but to use water from the hot tap because my cold water tap wasn't working and we are fine
