Instant coffee - 1 heaped spoonful per cup/mug - add hot water (no milk or sugar)

Ground coffee in 6/8 cup** cafetiere - 3 heaped desert spoons - add hot water

** based on espresso or coffee cups NOT tea cups - equivalent is 4 tea cups

2 tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6 ounces of water. that is the generally accepted standard.

I would read the instructions, but I think that the rule of thumb is 1 heaping tablespoon per 6 oz of water.
