1. Why does Coke explode after you shake the bottle? 2. Why does Coke explode when you mix it with Mentos?!

Question: It doesn't really explode. The shaking makes the carbon dioxide that gives it the fizz dissolved in the liquid come out of solution. Uncapping releases the pressure and lets the microbubbles expand.

Mentos also make the gas come out of solution all at once. It is an impressive geyser.

Coke explodes after you shake it because of the carbonation. The pressure builds and when you pop the top, it releases violently through the only outlet.

2. Mythbusters on Discovery Channel answered that question. There were several factors. One is that it has to be Diet Coke (the artificial sweetener and a chemical reaction. Also, the mint Mentos are porous and give bubbles a place to form. There were a few other reasons, too, but I can't remember all of them. It was a really cool episode, though!

For me those two things mean another two things you don't want to do.
1. Don't shake your body right after you drink coke.
2. Don't drink coke and eat mentos at the same time.

Because it is in the mteal bottle and it needs to get out especcily when it's hot or very cold you can learn this in school sometimes . the mentos have a chemical not knoown to me at the time but it mixes with the glecgrouse in coke and has a chemical reaction

carbonation.
