Gourmet coffee sizes at the grocery store....from 16 oz to 12 oz?!

Question: I'm sort of new at drinking coffee, and noticed that the bags of ground / whole bean coffee is mostly 12 oz. Have they ever sold coffee in 1 lb. (or 16 oz) bags? Without knowing for sure, I thought I'd ask the veteran coffee drinkers. My theory would be that yes, they used to sell gourmet stuff by the pound..but reduced size because that's what all food/drink manufacturers do. Thanks for reading.

Yes in the past it was sold in 1 Lb. packages. A few years ago coffee took a step rise in price and coffee companies reduced the package size to 12 or 13 once rather than increase the package price.

Most of them are still packed in 16oz bag. I checked several brands, I can not mention their names here. Others, just raise the price by reducing the weight. You just have to check it carefully. But if you really like that particular flavor, then, you you just have to bite the bullet - buy it. Do you have any choice? a small final consumer. Good for you notice this.
