Hot Cocoa Recipe - Courtesy Alton Brown
2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup cocoa (Dutch-process preferred)
2 1/2 cups powdered milk
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 pinch cayenne pepper, or more to taste
Hot water

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and incorporate evenly. In a small pot, heat 4 to 6 cups of water.

Fill your mug half full with the mixture and pour in hot water.

Stir to combine. Seal the rest in an airtight container, keeps indefinitely in the pantry. This also works great with warm milk.

Alton Brown delves into the dark world of chocolate, picks a pod, roasts some beans, questions mysterious guests, visits his shrink, makes a mousse and hits upon the ultimate chocolate recipe.

heat the milk on the stove and then add the powder, it seems sooo much creamier than the microwave. while it's sitting there warming, add some marshmellows that will melt in and make it extra delicious!

I like to use milk, but I also like to add a little bit of flavored creamer. Preferably caramel or hazelnut. Not too much, or you will just taste the creamer.

It tastes really good with some whipped cream on top and a sprikle of cinnamon...YUM!

Use the recipe on the back of the hershey's unsweetened cocoa box. Milk, vanilla, sugar and cocoa powder. Yummy and easy. And much better for you than the packaged varieties!

blend it then boil then blend again

What you need is a double boiler. you put the Milk in the top pan and the water in the bottom, and you can heat the milk without standing over it to keep it from scorching. This makes life alot easier. From there I would suggest swissmiss and a pinch of instant coffee and a dash of nutmeg (not too much nutmeg, it's not good in large doses). Also you can get a stick blender, use it once the milk and mix are in the cup to blend it really well, then pull it up towards the top of the cup to mix air in with the cocoa for a good froth. If you're really adventureous you can use a cinnamon stick to mix.
