What can I do to quit drinking cokes I love them so much and I know they are horrible for you?!

Question: Coca Cola is actually better for you than the diet version due to the aspartame. These kind of drinks can leach the calcium out of your body, so make sure you are taking calcium tablets. I used to drink a 6 pack of diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke a day -- then I had foot surgery and it was too much trouble to go to the kitchen.

So, I fix one large plastic glass loaded with ice and lemons and a diet coke, and it started lasting me longer and longer. I had reached a point that they didn't taste good without lemon. Next thing I knew, I had stopped completely.

The Aspartame in diet drinks can bring on signs of early Alzheimer's in people in their 30's. Everything I read about it was a real killer.

Now if I want a coke, and sometimes I do, I have the Classic -- I don't have it very often, but because I drink so much water every day, one does no damage.

By the way, I learned that over the period of a year a person who gave up diet drinks lost an average 16 pounds -- and that was just about what I lost.

So, to quit drinking them, add lemons to change the flavor. You'll start cutting back naturally. Add lots of water, which is much better with lemons than coke! :-)

best of luck to you!

try to ween off of them depending on how many you drink eat week try to set a goal to drink less and less and maybe have water on hand if you're thirsty

dont quit then
just drink a lot of water after you drink cokes

What you are experiencing is the sugar rush and addiction. This is not just to be funny but is a physical fact that takes a few days before you start to feel less jumpy and the craving goes down. To quit you should just go straight to water...if you need a little sweeten taste..add a packet of the pink or yellow sweetner...but you should try to keep it to one packet...and at the end just be drinking lots of water...or in limited amounts "sugar free"....which is sugar free...but the sweetners that are used in diet and sugar free sodas....it is now believed to cause you to be more hungry because these sweetners are so much more powerful that reg old sugar that the brain can't handle the supper sweetners that can be in the range of 10,000 times more sweet tasting, than plain sugar.
There is a real problem with sugar intake in this contry and is a big connection to the massive weight gain in the last twenty years. You be shocked how much sugar is in your food from bread to drinks to can vegtables...it's just not on your frosted flakes anymore...but in almost everything you eat.

Sparkling water with fruit flavours and no sugar are good for when you want some flavour without all the crud. Crystal Geyser and Calistoga make them. Also there is a soda from the UK called Irn-Bru that is made without any corn syrup, it has caffiene and tastes really good, maybe try switching to that from coke?

try weighing in. i gave up soda after i was shocked to see 140 lbs ( am only 5'). and not too long after, i gave up ice cream, cake, etc. Am down to 125lbs now and still trying to shed several more pounds. but if weight is not a problem to you, it could still pose a serious health risk.

Try switching to tea. It has lots of antioxidants in it so it is very good for you. That is if you don't add a ton of sugar...lol.

i had this issue too! switch to juice! choose something fun like orange carrot juice or grape juice dont pik plain orange or something simple! itl keep the thought away!
