Hi.. I'm giving up tea and coffee for lent! is there any suggestions on an alternative healthy hot drink?!

Question: Hot cider
--- dont know if they sell these in your area but, mott's has a line of cider drink mixes- like hot cocoa packets, just mix with hot water- they come in several different flavors such as cinnamon, granny smith, apple pie, and traditional cider... very yum!

Hot cocoa
--- i'm a fan of the lando'lakes hot cocoa- different flavors like dark chocolate, mint and white chocolate... also like Schokinag Drinking Chocolate- very good too (but kind of pricy)...

Warm milk...

Hot water with lemon juice and honey... can ad mint too...

Just found this recipe online (looks interesting):
Hot Buttered Cranberry Punch

Hot Cran-Apple Cider
Hot Mulled Pineapple Drink

Hot chocolate?

Hot chocolate
Soup/broth
Hot cider

Water? Flavoured water? Hot water?

Green tea is very healthy... no caffeine compared to other teas.

or Hot water... pretty much nothing healthier then that.

hot chocolate or steam up water I'm not really sure I hope that helped

Tea is good for you !!!

Try a Hot Toddy.

hot chai tea.

Hot lemon water with a bit of sugar.

Hot toddy. :)

ovaltine?

w8 w8 w8 y r u giving up tea? it's good for you

chai is good...it's herbal and a little sweet...it's very good.

hot chocolate
boiled water
soup
warm milk
warm apple cider

hot cocoa.
warm milk... (really good.. just add some sugar)
good luck..

Ramen noodle soup!

cocoa

healthy?

that's tough. I worked at Starbucks for 2 years, and a 12 oz. nonfat latte (which does have espresso in it, in case you're giving that up too) is lowfat.

hot apple cider would be another good option. hot chocolate with soy milk and no whip is also good. try a few things out.

why not just give up coffee. tea is really good for you (provided you dont use 8 sugars). but other alternative hot drinks? thats a pretty small list made up of hot chocolate and cups of soup (really good in winter).

of course theres going to be one or two people saying a certain kind of coffee that they serve at dome or starbucks that isnt really coffee, or some kind of soy product...its still the same concept. if you wanted to only give up on certain types or brands of drink then the point of lent would kind of be wasted.

but like i said, tea is really good for you. antioxidants, freeradicals, tastes good. why not just give up normal tea and switch to herbal. in a broad sence its still tea but it is fairly different.

Are you giving up all teas? If not, you might try herbal teas. If it's just the caffeine you're focusing on, there are some really good decaffeinated chais out there. If those won't work, there's that good old standby hot chocolate. Not the healthiest, but it does warm the cockles....

hot milk with vanilla or hazelnut syrup in it they make sugar free

Cocoa is well worth considering, especially with organic skimmed milk, Then it can double up as a penance.

Soup. Clam chowder tastes the best.

You're going to need caffeine to keep yourself up. Try some peach tea with rasberry syrup, lemons, and sugar. Ohhhh.... I'm drooling now....

kompot - that's water that you get when you boil dry apples and plumbs and other fruits..

If I am not mistaken...your diet will consist mainly of fruit and veggies, so I think you should warm up soup as mentioned above...I am not sure about broth...b/c it is meat stock you know...

Green Tea is EXTREMELY healthy for a body AND a mind.

You get plenty of vitamins from green tea, and you get a natural stress reducer called Theanine.

I wouldn't stop drinking this, maybe use milk instead of sugar and such, but don't stop drinking it.

hot choclote
hot apple cider! you can just buy the gallons of it at the grocery and heat it up in the micro. starbucks has good apple cider but i like thier steamed apple juice even better (kinda like cider without the spices but SOOO good).

also those cup-a-soups are really goood and fill/warm you up!

just watch out because these have more calories then coffee/tea!

awesome religous commitment, i hope that this helps to bring you close to God. stick with it!!

Water with lemon and a touch of honey

how bought spiced cider or blend of juices like cranciderpineoj. I love it for breakfast or any time.

I would say hot chocolate but chocolate drinking caused such a ruckus in the nunneries during the 1600 & 1700's that the Pope outlawed it.
