Should people be specific when talking about coffee brands?!

Question: For example, some people would say Starbucks is awesome, or Seattle's Best is great, or Caribou is the best!

I always scratch my head because there are so many different kinds for each brand, so many different blends and roasts, I'm like....Uh..yea, which kind?

so should people be more specific...Think of it as the Model name rather than the manufacturer.

Most definitely! What one must realize is that there are different levels of roasts (Starbuck's over roast in my opinion to mask the real flavor of the coffee) & different origins (Sumatra, Chile, Hawaii, Kenya, etc...). Each origin has their own profile & every roaster will make it taste better or worse depending on their level of roast (ie...temperature, air flow, contact time.....). Most peoplpe that order things like frapps, capps, all these espresso based drinks from a place like Starbucks aren't really tasting the coffee, but for those of us who really enjoy the world of coffee, we appreciate the origins & roasts level & drink it black!

Hope that helped!

Coffee is a very boring subject, I can't imagine why anyone would want to talk about it, unless they are being paid to advertise it in some way

i think all that matters is whether the coffee is fairtrade and whether it is caffinated or not.

Starbucks is too expensive for some of us commoners. I use Folgers, and even it is getting up there in price. So, I think people should refer to how much their favorite costs, when discussing them!

I do not understand your point, if you don't like starbucks don't go there... when I get coffee I order the kind I want... What exactly is your question?????????????????? Pleeezzzzzzzzzze telllll meeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!!!!! Here I'll give you some stars anyway.. ****************************************...

Yes they should be more specific, Not all there coffee's taste great. Maybe one particular kind one may like out of the million coffee menu.

This is a good point. Our society is very franchise oriented and this is why people describe their favourite coffee in the way you describe.
My coffee shop roasts their own coffee and the roaster probably does at least 20 different coffees from different origins (some are single origin and some are blends).

So by me saying I like Old Rock coffee the best, I am making an extremely general statement. I wonder if people who live in Colombia rate their coffees based on their neighbourhood coffee growers reputation rather than a brand name.

VERONA-starbucks-yum yum

NO. Coffee is like any other drink. I like orange juice so in conversation I don’t say did you have any minuet made today. I drink milk but I don’t say hay do you drink Dannon. It is ridiculous to think of coffee this way.

That being said if the conversation is BASED in coffee then you can say I like Starbucks in describing differences in coffee types.

Some of the answers on here make me laugh.
Coffee is a boring subject? I must be the most boring person on this planet!

And I agree that we should be more specific when talking about coffee. Just because you like Seattle's Best coffee doesn't mean that you will like every roast that they put out.
If a person likes a milder roast because they arn't used to the taste of coffee yet, then surely they won't like a bolder one.
And sure you might have tried one cup of coffee from one place and didn't like it, but does that mean you won't like every kind that they offer?

I feel if we were more specific about the kinds of coffee then people would be more educated about coffee and less reluctant to try certain brands.

i do

Dunken Donut's original coffee is great!
