Why is Jamaica Blue Mountain coffee so much better than Kona?!

Question: And why didn't you guys tell me about this before? All these years I didn't know I was drinking second best.

Without compelling scientific data to prove otherwise...I refuse to accept your claim. There is nothing better than a freshly ground Kona coffee bean. They are especially yummy when you eat them right off the tree. Or we can agree to disagree. It's all about personal tastes and preferences.

that's because the Blue Mountain coffee has passed through the intestines of a rasta brother... mmmm.

It is just a matter of taste. I prefer Kona. I drink both... seems I love coffee.

JBM is a little richer Kona a little smoother.

I COULD be prejudiced.... I live in Kona

I really wish I knew why. I don't like Kona, but love JBM. Unfortunately, in a house with two struggling students and bills to pay, it is just an occasional treat. Enjoy it.

It is truly grown in the high mountain areas of Jamaica. We have visited that country several times. Sometimes the mountains are encased in beautiful clouds. Very pretty.

Your city's tap water will affect the flavor. If at all possible try to use bottled "spring" water.

it is matter of taste i like kona better !!!

Coffee is a crop, and as a crop it has good years and bad years. Coffee produces two crops a year which throws an even greater curve into the equation.
For the last few years the supplier I deal with refused to purchase the Blue Mountain because it was of such poor quality and taste. However many people buy a name and really don't know or care that they are pay a high premium for a low quality item. I have not had the opportunity to taste Blue mountain but I will trust my suppliers to furnish me with the very best tasting coffees available. I have in the past had the opportunity to enjoy a good Kona coffee, but for two years preceding this season my coffee bean source refused to purchase Kona or any Hawaiian coffee also. Same reason, poor cupping qualities.

So don't feel that you have actually missed anything yet. I am waiting for the quality to return before attempting to taste the Blue.

EDIT:...Higher price does not translate into better taste.

It is? !@#$#@$ Now I've gotta move again...

LOL...we went to Jamaica and bought about 10 pounds of blue mountain coffee for about 10$ per pound...thought it was a great deal...got home..brewed a cup and the laugh was on the Jamaicans...the cheap blue mountain coffee tasted like dung!...gave it away for Christmas anyway...what do I know about coffee anyhow?!
