Are energy drinks bad for me?!

Question: I usually don't get enough sleep because I am really busy and I drink a Red Bull or a Blue Monster every day because I am really tired most of the time. I don't exercise that much though. Are energy drinks bad for my health?

Yes.

There is alot of sugar and empty calories in energy drinks. Too much sugar can dehydrate you, which will make you feel more tired (that's the crash you might feel). Additionally, if you don't drink them you will be able to get more sleep which will also help you feel better.

You'd be surprised, but adding activity to your day will increase your energy also. Instead of calling a co-worker, walk down the hallway. Use stairs instead of the elevator. Increasing your activity will help to increase your energy.

You are tired because you are drinking these. Switch to water, it is much better for giving you the energy you need to power through your day. Many times we are too tired because we are not hydrated. I promise. Give it a chance, you'll be amazed.
A big glass of water should be the first thing you have in the morning.

I think they are. The energy that they give you must be taken from some where, and if your body does not have it, it will eat itself. That is why you get so tired when coming down from the energy drink. Caffeine really is a poison, and with all the rest of the stuff they put in them, you are doing a number on your body.

no

An occasional pick-me-up is ok..what is harmful is not getting your night's sleep to recupe from your day. I also know a co-worker who relies on Red Bull to keep her alert and she slams down hard when its effects wear off..I am sure that is not good to do to your body everyday just to stay awake. Get your sleep!
