Food Experation Date question....?!

Question: I have this can of chili. It says "best by Feb. 2008". Would it still be good to eat? It must be old right? Could it make me sick?

the "best by" date is used by stores when selling their product at retail prices, after the date they can either no longer sell the item or sell it @ reduced prices...so, to answer your question, if the can isn't bulged, it's good. If the can IS bulged, that means there is harmful bacteria in it and opening it can be harmful, even lethal.

It should be fine

Its fine. You could eat it next year and it would not make you sick.

If the can isn't damaged it should be okay - most expiration dates are conservative. It might not taste as good as a non-expired can but it isn't likely to make you sick.

It will be o.k. But considering I'm a little OCD, I would not use it, lol. It will not make you sick though.

no chili if ou freeze it u can have it months from now but if its just in the cabinet you can still eat it now without getting sick but in a week or so ou probably wont be able to. have fun with ur chili lol

Its fine for at least 3-5 years after expiration date or through a nuclear war, which ever is first. The date is meant to protect consumers from wholesalers selling almost expired food at premium. The preservatives have a half life of like 20 years! Imagine what your stomach is saying to your brain eating food out of can.

I'm not sure whether it still tastes good or not but I think you shouldn't eat it because you never know if it could make you sick or not, just to be safe. Also, its just a can of chili, you can get them at the super market for like 20 cents. I hope I helped you!

It's fine,go ahead and eat it.Enjoy
